Played 1-11-18. Payed $225 on there California Golfer deal which also included a $75 gift card.
Was paired with a threesome going out first at 7:40 and finishing in 4 hours and 10 minutes.
Tee boxes were very nice, lush, level and cut semi tight. Fairways were in great shape, very lush and a little soft so not much roll out but the ball would sit up very nice. Rough was 2-3 inches and very healthy, and in great shape, ball would sit down so getting out of it was a challenge. Was in three green-side bunkers all of which had some of the nicest sand I have ever played from. Greens were in great shape, a little slow but rolling smooth without a blemish. One of my favorite courses that never disappoints.

Played here yesterday in perfect weather. I have played here a few times and always look forward to coming back. The course conditions are always good and the layout is great. The course. Conditions right now are nearing great but I have played it in better. The greens were the highlight with smooth and fast surfaces and they will only get better. The tees were level, the bunkers played great, and the fairways were good but can get better with more time. There was a number of areas marked as Ground Under Repair (GUR) and I noticed many downed trees throughout the course. Great time and can’t wait to return.

Sub four hour round on a clear cool beautiful fall day. The staff was welcoming especially the starter for our round – real nice guy, as well as the marshal out that morning! The facility has two 18 hole courses that mingle somewhat throughout the round. The tee boxes were all in great shape with a couple of the par 3’s a bit chewed up but playable. The fairways had fantastic coverage with mostly tight lies and a bit of divot damage from approach areas on the par 4’s and par 5’s. The rough was very thick and made finding shots not in the short stuff a challenge. The traps were great around the greens – I did notice a few fairway traps that were a bit shaggy around the edges. The greens were rolling pretty fast and were not holding all good approach shots real well. Most of the greens are very large and extremely sloped with a few different levels on some holes – made for a fun round of putt putt golf! I loved the views of the Bay from the course and the overall conditions! This is surely a course that a couple of rounds would make a good difference for scoring and shot selection. The rates are very reasonable for the course and worth the short drive from the south or the Bay Area. I recommend Black Horse to those that enjoy a well maintained course with great views at a fair rate!!

Played here on 12/8/17 as a group of 7 and finished in about 5 1/2 hrs. Our group teed off on #10 at 9:15am as the #1 tee wasn’t available till after 10am for us. It was 3rd time for us here and the views and course conditions still continue to amaze us. Everything here was near perfect with the exception of rock-hard fairways under the grass coverage. For our group, divot repair wasn’t necessary as we couldn’t make a divot if we tried.
This is probably the only course we don’t mind playing in over 5 hrs as it allows us for more relaxed picture taking opportunities.
Although some may say the course is a bit tricked-up, for us, Wolf Creek remains as our #1 favorite course. Certainly recommended.

Played 5/26. First out, a real treat; course in very good shape. All the rains really helped. greens are tricky to read, especially anything coming in from the sides towards the hole. It plays with more break than your eyes see. If you miss, keep everything under the hole if possible. Chipping and pitching from the sides is challenging, greens are bigger than they look, and being closer to the ocean, the ball does not carry like it does inland. Consider taking a longer club on some approach shots, especially since many greens slope pretty good from front to back, with some false fronts.
Course is now open to the public, but, call ahead; lots of member groups, outings etc. just to be on the safe side. Owned by the same gentlemen who bought La Purisima, a good choice to play, if in the area, stay healthy, drive safely,

Played 7-3-17 on a Teeoff deal for $90 playing as a foursome teeing off at 11:10 and finishing at 3:50.
Tee boxes were in really good shape, level and lush. Fairways were very nice and lush with descent roll out and the ball sitting up nicely. Rough was very healthy and thick, 2-3 inches in most areas with some areas being a little longer. Was in two green-side bunkers that had very nice white sand. Greens were in good shape rolling medium pace and fairly smooth.
Overall course was in really good shape. Rack rate is a little steep here but if you can find a deal it is worth playing.

Played 1-6-18 first out as a single playing in a little under 2 1/2 hours. With nobody in front of me, nobody behind me, and no maintenance people around it felt like I had my own private golf course. Course conditions haven’t changed much since last time I played here. Rough my have been cut down a little lower, and greens were a little softer, but everything else was in the same good shape.
