Golf Playing Conditions 5.81 GOOD

Played a couple of times this past week. Overall course is ok and certainly good enough for my golf itch. Teed off in the morning both times and there was quite a bit of frost on the course. After it melted it seemed a little damp but I’m sure towards the afternoon you couldn’t tell.

Greens were ok. Faster in the beginning of the round. I couldn’t figure that out maybe the frost made the greens slick and the water after it melted slowed it down? Still a lot of ball marks out there.

Fairways were good. A lot of divots out there that need to be filled but it was good to hit from. A few bad areas in a couple of fairways.

Rough is not bad. A few areas the ball can settle down in but generally the rough won’t alter your shot selection.

Bunkers were nice. Probably the most sand I’ve seen in them and nice to hit from. They just need to be raked from the previous day.

Conditions will not wow you but the course has it challenging holes and pretty affordable that I’ll continue to keep it in my rotation.

Played 1-22-18 for my second round joining a twosome and finishing in a little under 4 hours.

Tee boxes were a little thin and un-level with the three pars having heavy divot damage. Fairways were in descent shape with some thin and dried out areas but for the most part had good lies with descent roll out. Rough was a little patchy in areas with some bare spots it wasn’t to long maybe an inch or two longer than fairways. Was in two bunkers on the back side both of which were very thin and firm. Greens were rolling on the slow side and a little bumpy.

Champions seems to be in a little better shape than Legends right now.

Golf Playing Conditions 5.56 GOOD

1/22 using Groupon $74 for a two-some with range balls voucher on a cold(no frost delay) 740 start that became quite pleasant by 830. Fairways are generally thin giving tight lies but acceptable overall–firm for roll but soft enough to take divots. Rough is sparse along fairways with some bare patches toward the extreme edges. Rough is a little more evident around the greens.

Tees level and ok. Green side bunker on 4 was full of deep rather heavy brown sand which felt quite playable. Bunker in front of 12 looked good but only had a thin layer of sand over hard pack.
Greens played much better than they looked–many appeared rather splotchy but rolled medium to medium fast especially as the day warmed and quite smoothly overall. Held approach and chip shots quite consistently. Some pin placements were really challenging most notably #7(par 3 with the center green bunker)–blue flag set dead center behind said bunker.

The layout is outstanding good variety of holes in a tranquil country setting. Truthfully the conditions are not as good as some times in the past but it is winter and it is evident the the course is being well maintained and attended to.

Check in was a breeze with a cheerful welcome and several friendly encounters with other staff members trough out the day.

the rating of 6 came out really low–is more like 6.8-7 in reality

Joined rgm2525, kevbig and mpisarski01 for GK Guru round at Coyote Springs Golf Club on 1/18, impressive. I’ll go as far as saying it was one of the best, and most difficult layouts I’ve ever played. Its a Jack Nicklaus design. I understand it is normally pristine June – November and we did not catch the course at its best, but even at that, it was still in great shape.

This course is in the middle of nowhere. It’s a 60 minute drive out of Las Vegas in the high desert and the only breath of humanity is actually the golf course once you arrive. But once there you get a secluded away from it all feeling and what a course to be treated with. I like it so much I’m looking into a GK Plays there for June. Got to treat GK’ers to this course and I need to play it at its best.

We played the blue tees, 72.8/144, bunkers everywhere and none easy to escape from. Very difficult undulating greens, rolling fairways loaded with small mounds to the point you hardly ever get a downhill lie, amazing sight lines and not a single let down hole.

The Condtions

As far as conditions, they do not overseed yet the fairways and greens were in great shape. The rough was dormant and thin in spots. The bunkers were in decent shape but thin in most. The tee boxes green and in very good shape. Green were rolling mostly smooth, moderately fast and firm.

As far the facilities, one of the best driving ranges/practice areas I’ve ever seen. Huge beautiful grass range with multiple short game areas. In addition nice large practicing putting green by the starter that simulates the golf course very well. The clubhouse are deluxe trailers with a food/beverage. It is my understanding they will finally breaking ground on the new clubhouse later this year.

I use to always hear when coming to Vegas I need to play Coyote Springs given how much I like all the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort golf courses. Now that I have I will say Coyote Springs Golf Club is better than every one of them hands down…and I like those Paiute courses a ton.

Highly Recommend Coyote Springs Golf Club. Worth the drive!

Playing Conditions 9.16 IMMACULATE
Playing Conditions 9.16 IMMACULATE

I started my New Year’s Day here. I had a 8 A.M. tee time, but had a frost delay for about 30 min., after the delay was lifted, we where given the opportunity to go to the range and practice area. They have one of the best short game and practice area, that I’ve used.

Now to the game. The tee boxes have been one of the best I have played on in a long time. They are large firm and flat, with minimal, to not damage. The fairways are large and spacious, not too many trees to hit into. But there are so gorgeous and majestic views from some of the back 9 tee locations, so there are forced carry to reach the fairways. It is a must to play the proper tee locations, I played white, which was good for me. The fairways are firm flat and have some lushness to it. The rough was cut down, so it was easy to play through those lies.
The bunkers are placed on many of the holes, which adds to the beauty of this course. The sand was a bit firm, not fluffy, but playable. The greens rolled really fast, I mean really fast, but true. the greens also have some angulation, you need to read before striking your putt. If you are above the hole, be careful, because a miss 1st put may give you and additional 2 or 3 putts to finish. I saw more putts, barely tapped, run 8-10 feet passed, because of the angulation. A couple of hole had pin placements right on the edge of the slope.
Overall the course is in super condition, it has great views and character throughout the layout of the track. It should be a must play for your Bucket List for 2018.

Golf Playing Conditions 6.89 GOOD

Walked the Blues this afternoon 1/22/2018 at 12:10pm with Brian and a nice single Joe. POP was 4 hrs 30 minutes behind a full tee sheet for a Monday afternoon. Weather was breezy and in the high 60’s. Breeze died down some toward the end of the round. Used the last of a gift card so the last couple rounds were free. Their standard twilight rate is $22.00 to walk Monday through Thursday.

The greens were in very good shape and quicker than the last couple rounds I was out here. Several green complexes and pin placements made you really think today about how you were trying to get the ball close. They were rolling medium to quick speed and were in great shape with hardly any ballamarks. Along with the tees they were the highlight of the course. Rated 8/10

Speaking of the tees they were green, lush and mowed perfectly in good shape. Some divot damage on the par 3’s but not to bad. Rated 7.5/10

The fairways are dry and thinner and need some water and rain on them. Just enough padding on most lies. Rated 6/10

Was in greenside bunker on 7 and 18 that were more on the hardpan side but raked nicely. Rated 6.5/10

The greenside rough just around the fringes are nice, green and lush 8/10. Fairway rough is dry and spotty 6/10.

Rustic has some scoring holes on the front and numerous hang on tougher holes on the back nine. Great day for golf here today. Recommended for a fun round on a great layout with great greens if you can get by the current drier conditions in the fairways.

Out this afternoon 12/4/2018 walking the orange tees joined by my buddy Mack and his buddy Brian and a nice single. We teed off at 11:50am 10 minutes early and finished at 4:20pm for a POP of 4 hrs 30 minutes–we played the front in 2 hrs and then had a 3 group back-up on #10 tee. Weather was beautiful maybe 1 club wind and around 70 degrees at tee off. Paid the walking twilight rate of $19.00 which considering how nice and lush the course is might be one of the best deals in Ventura County.

Golf Playing Conditions 7.29 GREAT

Soule Park should be commended on current conditions–very lush and green fairways with very little problem areas. Rated 8/10.

Greens looking and rolling beautiful. Very little to no ball marks, holding very softly on approaches and actually rolling medium to fast. In great shape. Rated 8/10.

Tees mostly level and lush–rated 7.5/10

Was not in any bunkers but they looked to be raked and in good shape.

Rough generally lush and green and in good shape. Rated 8/10.

I just love this course–especially for the rates they charge. New management is really keeping it up nicely for the start of December. Recommended.

Played here 1-22 and had a great time. The weather was a mix of sunshine rain and wind at times. Never rained hard or very long and the wind was only an issue on a couple of holes then it went away.

The staff was great and welcoming. I was paired up with a nice guy from Texas and we played as a twosome. Had an 8:00 am tee time and we got off about 10 minutes early. We played at our own pace and finished in less than 4 hours. Never saw anyone behind us and the guys ahead moved along at a good pace.

The Review

The tees were in good shape with no problems finding good level spot to hit from.

Fairways are nice to hit from with good coverage and I never had a bad lie when I found the fairways.

The rough is about 2″ deep Bermuda and the ball really sits down making it tough to get out of at times.

I was in one green-side bunker and it had plenty of red sand. Not to soft and good to get out of.

If you watched the recent tournament, it was obvious that they had some issues with the greens due to more rain that usual in Dec. Now they have recovered except for a couple that still had some thin spots. On these greens the pins were away from the bad areas and we did not have any problems.  These greens are huge and have lots of slopes to deal with. One of my shots landed short of the green and ran off the back (about 60 feet). long on these is not a good place to be.

This place is pricey but its a bucket list course so I was OK with the cost. The views are amazing and I even saw a whale breach off in the distance from one of the greens.
