Golf Playing Conditions 5.23 GOOD

Played 10-14-19 early morning walking as a single for $30 and finishing in a little over 2 1/2 hours with some waiting on the back side.

Tee boxes were just okay, mostly level with thin coverage and some bare spots.

Fairways were decent with mostly good coverage and good lies with some thin spots here and there and some bare areas down in the swells.

Rough was cut fairly short so not much of a factor with some bare and thin areas mixed in. Was in one green-side bunker that was well groomed but had a thin layer of sand over firm ground.

Greens were okay but very slow and had some bumps, they were a little inconsistent from soft to firm.

Overall just average conditions which is what I would expect from a municipal course. Fun easy course to walk that has a lot of character.

Played 3 rounds at Boulder Creek as I played in a tournament the weekend of 10/11. Practice round was played first and they gave us the resident rate which is always appreciated. Very nice folks in the club house. Zach, one of the nice guys there and added to what was to be a lot of fun this weekend. I play in this tournament every year mid-October and so look forward to it. Weather was perfect – high 70’s and no wind. Very dry tough – about 3% humidity making the skin (particularly the hands) dry and chapped.

The course is in great shape however. All of the over seeding has been done and the fairways are great. The Bermuda rough is going dormant and hitting from there means you get a tight lie. Bunkers are filled with heavy sand and are in good shape. No problems getting out of either fairway or green side bunkers.

Greens are still recovering from over seeding and rolled a little bumpy but still held the line. In a couple of weeks, they should be rolling pretty fast. Greens were hard though and weren’t always holding. Had to hit very clean to get it to hold but once you figure that out, you need to make the adjustment.

Love playing here. A great, desert style golf course with some great views. Generous fairways but some shots you need to think through. Highly recommend. If in the area, make it a point to stop and play.

Rode the Whites on the Oaks/Stonehouse combo (6304/70.2/127) using Forelinx in slightly over 4 hours. Paired with Chris/Sue, nice couple and 140ver. Thanks for coming up Mike! The weather was around 80, clear and calm.

Fun course, the Oaks 9 is more wide open and less picturesque than the Stonehouse 9. The layout is constantly up/down rolling hills with fairly large, thick trees lining every fairway. Even though it is not far from major streets and the freeway, most holes feel secluded with no homes around and native areas ringing most of the course. Would be a challenging course to walk with the rolling hills.

The tees were good. Fairly level, adequate coverage with most divots properly maintained.

The fairways were fairly lush and nice to play off of.

The rough was decent with good coverage. A few areas were deep and lost ball rough, but most areas were not overly penal.

The sand was excellent. Nicely maintained with an adequate amount of good quality sand.

The greens were medium fast, firm but held approach shots well. However, chips would release and that needed to be accounted for. After playing on some of the slowest greens I have ever played on Friday, these seems like Augusta. Three putted 4 of the first 5 greens before I got the speed down and ended up with one of my worst ever putting days, but the greens were not the challenge, it was me!

Quick efficient check in. Good GPS on carts. Cart gal out and around numerous times. Good snack shop and busy restaurant onsite. Nice course in good condition, definitely recommended.

The course is in great shape right now.

The fairways had no thin lies. Tee boxes were level throughout with plenty of grass.

Rough was not very penal, but consistent throughout.

Fairway and green-side bunkers have plenty of sand and are well-maintained.

The greens are the fastest I have seen them since I started playing here about a year ago. Although there are a few unrepaired pitch marks, they did not affect any putts.

They have been renovating the 18th hole tee box which has caused it to play as a par 4 rather than a par 5.

Fortunately, it looks like the renovations are very close to being completed. Completed the round in 3.5 hours (tee off at 7:21 am).

First group out after frost delay.

Fairways in very good to fantastic shape. Ball sat perfect with good roll.

Greens were very firm and fast. They are punching on Monday.

The course is beautiful right now with the colorful foliage and nice day temperatures.

Enjoyed the layout. Mostly mountain type golf with some narrow landing areas and tough angles if you find the wrong side of fairway.

Nice views of surrounding mountains. Recommend after punching healed, but season most likely over?

Played 10/5 and must’ve just missed Steve and friends. We tee’d off at 10:30 using our free foursome certificate that Apisarski won at a GK event. The staff here was super friendly as usual and the bar food was tasty albeit expensive.

Course is in great shape right now as expected. When you get to the starter he warns you with a smile saying that there are over 100+ bunkers and only about 4 of them are visible from the tee. The last time I played here I did not hit any bunkers but this time I landed in two and both up against the front edge of course. Sand was decent but not great, a bit firm for my taste. Fairway and rough were lush with some of the fescue being knee high even though it looks to be only 3-5 inches, a great job by the grounds crew to make it look like a rolling mound I was convinced that it wasn’t that thick. Greens were semi soft and rolled well and quick. The gold tee’s we played from seemed to be a bit chewed up but nothing major.

Overall the unique layout itself warrants a trip here even though rates can be a bit high at times but nothing out of the ordinary for Las Vegas.

Greens had been aerated a couple of weeks prior. Course was in good shape overall.  Greens were still a little bumpy and considerably slower than usual.

Bunkers had nice quality sand except unfortunately there was only about 3/8″ of sand before you encountered hard-pan. Actually at 3/8″ it was a compacted moist sand that did not accommodate a normal bunker shot.

A couple of tee boxes were not level, but overall, most were sufficient.

Fairways yielded good lies.

The rough was winter rye and any ball that landed in it sunk down to the bottom ( about 3″).

Price was right as we all had the Glen Ivy Gold Card. Don’t know if I would consider it a good value at the regular rate. POP was good – just under 4 hours.

Played 10-5-19. This was the first time playing here. First the bad. No driving range, just mats to hit off in a cage like at Mt. Wilson only smaller. No way to hit your driver then the opening hole you need to hit over water with your first driver swing of the day. Didn’t go well for me. The carts have this annoying door bell sound to remind you to fix your divots and ball marks. Our cart kept dinging while we were parked at the tee on a par 3. Every couple minutes it would ring out. Expected it to ring while we were swinging. Very annoying!

The course is a challenge and a treat for the eyes. Beautiful vistas and nice tee boxes. Traps were soft and perfect. Greens were nice but lots of ball marks. Fairways were a little thin in spots but the rough was not too thick but not easy either. Customer service was exceptional. From the time we arrived till we left we were made to feel appreciated. Would love another shot at this course.
