Rode the Blues (6313/70.6/129) in slightly less than 4 hours early morning. Paired up with Jeff, Richard and Gary. The weather was clear, windy and in the 90’s.

SilverRock offers many tee shots that are nicely camouflaged with a large amount of both fairway and green side traps. Numerous driving areas appear tight. However, this is not a tight course overall with generous fairway landing areas for the most part once you get around bends and look back at the tee.

The Review

The tees were lush and well maintained. Only the par 3’s needed divot repair.

The fairways were lush, with a few brownish spots from the heat here and there. Nicely maintained and good to play from.

Same for the rough, mowed low and nicely maintained.

The sand traps were in excellent condition. Good quality sand that was thick and plentiful. Tough to play from with large lips and long carries if you short sided yourself.

The greens are hard, not firm in the heat and the wind. Smooth, medium fast and even well struck irons would release a good amount.

Final Thoughts

The customer service was outstanding as always here. From the complimentary range balls all the way to the cart guy cleaning your clubs after the round. Cart gal out making the rounds. One of my favorite layouts in the Palm Springs area. It is away from any houses with a decent amount of lakes, canals and native areas to keep things interesting. Definitely recommended.

Played the Blues (6313/70.6/129) in 2.5H mid day as a single using Forelinx. I saw exactly 2 other groups playing total, almost like having your own private course. The weather was clear, fairly calm and around 105.

The Review

The Bermuda tees were lush and well maintained. Only a couple of par 3’s needed divot repair.

Both the Bermuda fairways and rough were lush, mowed down close with a few brown heat spots. Nicely maintained and good to play from.

The sand traps were in excellent condition with a generous amount of fine grain sand. These traps are tough to play from with large lips and potential long carries.

The Bermuda greens are still sub-par, recovering after a recent aerification. Decent amount of contour/slope on these large greens. They putted medium speed and were somewhat bumpy. They were firm but held shots well.

The customer service was excellent, especially from Nathan the clubhouse attendant. No drink cart out or Marshall today. SilverRock is easier after the redesign that shortened the back, but still a fun & pretty layout.

Definitely recommended.

Arnold Palmer course in Palm Springs that is a must play when in town. Played last weekend in 104 degrees temp. It was actually a comfortable round. Not a lot of people playing so there was no waiting and we finished as a 2some in under 3 hours. Carts had ice chest/coolers with 2 bottles of water which was nice.

Had purchased the underpar voucher but there are deals available. Even their website had rates ranging from $58 to $85 (depending on what time).

We had time to hit the expansive driving range. Lots of open stalls.

Course was in great shape. Tee to green – lush and very good condition. Greens rolled true and was quite fun to putt. They were firm but fair. GPS on the carts were great. We had some issues with our handheld GPS though – i suspect probably from the rerouting done with the course. The 16th 180y par 3 was highlight on the back 9. I thought the 18th was anticlimactic.

Staff was excellent. From the proshop to the people in the grill. Food was decent.

Right now would be the best time to go before they do maintenance end of the month and temps are still bearable.

Played here Saturday April 14. First time here and was well worth it with use of an Under Par voucher ($69).

Very nice practice area, grass driving range, good sized chipping area and sand bunker practice area. Large putting green adjacent to 1st tee box. Starter calls / announces who’s up on tee and kept everyone right on time. I teed it up at 908a.

Played with (3) others who had played before so got a good amount of intel from then and along with the onboard GPS, no problem at all. Without it, however, navigation of the tee could be tricky. Some blinds shots and some tee shots which don’t show you the landing area from tee, but as mentioned in other reviews, fairways are mostly very generous, just doesn’t always appear that way from tee box.

Conditions overall were good to very good.

Tee boxes and fairways very good. Thought fairways in particular were excellent. Great coverage, just enough bounce and roll, and lush.

Greens were a mixed bag. Quite firm, most were very good but a handful were spotty and thin. Not as lush as I had hoped. Others who had played there before indicated greens were usually a bit better.

Sand bunkers, not to be mistaken for waste areas, were very good, and plentiful. Designed with the intention to keep you very aware and to plan your shot precisely. A few area that look like sand bunkers were waste areas and had significantly different quality of surface to play from.

Layout was interesting. Given my first time here, I didn’t know any thing different about the back 9, but group I played with indicated there were significant changes. #11 in particular. A 175ish yard par 3 over water with narrow sloped green was new. (Play to right edge as slope take it down to green). A little awkward from tee box. They indicate routing was different since re-open after canal work was completed. For anyone that had played prior to closing, the re-opened back 9 will look different. Kind of unusual finishing hole. 300 yard par 4, which could be drivable, and may be the right strategy, given the shape of green. Easiest to play as short a shot as possible on approach.

Great customer service in pro shop, starter, on course and at bag drop.

Very picturesque venue up against the rocky backdrop. Recommend.
