5.63Rode the Coyote tees (6510/72.1/134) in 4H, 20M early morning using Forelinx. Played as a single sandwiched between multiple 4somes on each side. Provided the opportunity to hit lots of practice shots with new irons. The weather was nice, 70’s, clear and fairly calm.
Tight, tough layout up/down rolling hills with numerous forced carries. Like the layout overall. Would be a beast to walk with the hills and the distance between many holes. Because of the tightness and many holes playing downhill, I hit long irons on about half the par 4’s with good results.
Tees were the weakest area. Numerous looked like they were recently reseeded and were furry.
Fairways played nice, good coverage but not lush. 90% were firm with plenty of roll, 10% were squishy from an abundance of morning watering.
Rough more hit and miss. Good coverage, could be 1″ or 3+” within a relatively small area.
Traps well maintained with good quality sand. Firm, which was nice on full fairway shots, not as much green-side.
Greens rolled great. Softest greens I have played in awhile, huge ball marks and irons backing up was a consistent theme. Medium fast bordering on fast and smooth. The greens here are challenging, large and if you are on the wrong side, plenty of potentially nasty putts. One green (15?) was in poor condition with numerous areas they were trying to patch, but the other 17 were very good.
Busy driving range, friendly and courteous check-in/starter staff. Drink cart out and around several times and plenty of water stations on the course. Solid layout. Would not pay rack rate, but recommended if you get a deal.
