Golf Playing Conditions 7.68 GREAT
Golf Playing Conditions 7.68 GREAT

What a nice setting to knock off the rust!  Had a tee time of 740 on Thursday 4/30 for 54.00 booked on their web site.  Check in was very easy.  Carts were staged next to check-in.  Range was open but only for playing golfers.  It was $6.00 for a small bucket.

Covid conditions the same as everywhere else but masks were only mandatory at the clubhouse once your round began it was optional to wear.

Course conditions were VERY good.  Fairways a 9.  Tee boxes a 7.  Bunkers a 7.  Greens were spongy and a bit slow but very good 8.  There is construction on #1 so every body started at the forward tees and were asked to lay-up on the 250 par 4(so not to slow down the start).  Tee times were 10 mins apart.  Restrooms on the course were open and we saw the cart girl twice.

2 key points after 3pm it is walking only and that is because of the lack of carts.  It seems the carts can only get enough of a charge to go twice during the day.  The course was beautiful today and I was able to knock off a little rust.

Highly recommended.

Golf Playing Conditions 7.43 GREAT
Golf Playing Conditions 7.43 GREAT

Played today (1/23) on a beautiful day. The course is in very good winter condition.

Greens: excellent condition, starter said the greens are at a 13. I believe him.

Fairways: good winter condition, some bare spots.

Rough: 1-3″ high, very playable.

Traps: My only complaint; many traps were hard with no sand. Might be prepping them for new sand in the spring, I hope.

POP: under 4 hours.

Good customer service. Recommend.

Played here 6/30/19 with a 7:00am tee time. My friend and I were paired with another 2 some which eventually broke from us on hole 12. Pace of play was 4.5 hours. Saw the cart girl 3 times. Staff was extremely friendly. Dave in the pro-shop was very kind and welcoming.

Course Conditions:

Greens- 10/10 PERFECT! They started off slow but sped up tremendously as the sun dried them out. Everything rolled true and all ball marks looked to be fixed when walking up to green.

Fairways- 9/10 GREAT!- Trim, Green with perfect amount of roll after the flight. Hole #13 and #18 had some dead spots and Ground under repair roped of but still amazing fairways.

Rough- 7/10 GOOD! Definitely penalty worthy. A little too long to play out of. Felt like I was playing Bethpage black anytime I wasn’t in the fairway.

Sand- Believe it or not our entire foursome never went in a sand trap the entire course! I can’t review because of this. However the sand traps looked well manicured and didn’t look to have any growth in them.

Water- Water on holes 8 and 9 seemed to be clean and clear.
Tee Boxes- 10/10 PERFECT! If you come to this course the best part of it is the greens, fairways and tee boxes.

Beautiful course! We played from the Blue tees and I shot an even 100 playing PGA rules. Tough course! I am a 16 handicap. Love the challenge though and heads up #18 has a blind approach shot to the green.

Golf Playing Conditions 6.45 GOOD
Golf Playing Conditions 6.45 GOOD

Third off in the morning with a finish of a little of four hours. Those who play here know that a quick round is usually not going to be the case. The staff knows of Mr. GK here very well!

The tees were all in nice shape with a few being a little sloped and thin.

The fairways look very green and are in real good condition but most were very firm with large bounces and roll (not always in the right direction). The grass in the fairways was thick from the recent rains and kept the ball up nicely for approach shots. The rain also has made the rough treacherous to hit from but it will keep most off line shots in play (just very difficult to play from). The green side rough is also extremely thick and swallows up shots that do not find the putting surface.

The traps were the low point of the round. All were in need of sand and seriously in need of a good raking. Some of the green side traps were damp mud with standing water. I’m sure that the course will have the traps in much better condition by months end when they host the Temecula Valley Amateur.

The greens will be punched in a couple days and the are in need of it. Most of the greens had quite a bit of roll out and were not holding shots great. The rain has also slowed down the greens and many were somewhat bumpy. Those that have played here a few times know the greens are usually very quick and true – I’m sure in a couple weeks that the greens will be in fantastic shape.

The GPS on the old rickety carts has helped those who don’t use range finders.

The front nine is fairly flat while the back nine has elevation changes and more difficult layouts. The surrounding area and views along with the wildlife make this an enjoyable course to play. Highly recommended.

1/18 using GK $32 voucher (thank you–exceptional value) made the 1 hr 20 min drive well worth it to experience this setting. Played the blues–made for extra work on some of the holes–#2 markers were set back and just don’t have that much carry any more.
Fairways mostly green some looked a little thin but lies were quite good. Rough was short did more to slow the ball than inhibit shots– in fact helped some on fairway metals as the ball sat up as opposed to the tighter lie in the fairway’ No issues from the rains comfortably dry with softened turf.
Tees level some with thin cover not affecting play but looking a little worn. Found 3 fairway bunkers which were well groomed with firm playable sand. In 1 green side trap also groomed– firm but good depth to the sand.
Greens firm smooth and fast–pins often placed near a contour sloping away the hole so a putt that was a little strong could pick up speed and roll out an extra 4-6 feet or coming from the other direction loose speed and take more break–ok so I had a tough putting day but still a great outing.
Course uses a quadrant # system instead of colored flags for pin location–however we didnt have the chart so there was some guessing as many greens are elevated so the flag position was often in question. Never saw any staff on the course and no snack cart.
Pace of Play (POP) right at 4 hours but playing as a twosome had to wait on the three-some ahead that fell over a hole behind on the 2nd nine.
Overall course is in really good shape challenging scenic and varied layout–a real bargain at $32.
