The course is in great shape and has held up well to the summer heat of the last couple of weeks. Fairways have been lush and carpet like. The rough is up and they added a nice “1st cut” on most holes. Even without rakes, the sand has been good, unless you land in a foot print from earlier in the day, but they get maintenance every morning. A few of the greens have a light dusting of sand but they are fairly smooth and a nice medium/fast pace.

Only issue is the wet fairways early in morning, with some soggy areas.

With single rider carts, pace has been well below 4 hours since 5/1. The bar/grill opens with the course, the snack bars open at 8 along with the drink cart.

Saturday June 20, was a nice clear day here with a soft breeze for our play day- 12:12 tee time fits our schedule. It was supposed to have reached 103 degrees but seemingly that was not felt. Cooler, I would say, more like low 90s or even high 80s all day so that was good for us.

It’s a pleasure to be back here again. The prior review was encouraging and did not disappoint- it’s probably in a better condition now than then. It is just fabulous and I don’t have much different things to say other than the greens have healed from its recent aeration. It rolled nicely and true, but not fast at all, maybe 9 on a Stimp meter if I had to guess. If you play here today, I’m sure you will enjoy the course very much.
The staff and the beverage cart were all helpful, friendly and informative. The practice balls at the driving range were all brand new shiny and bright white. This place have exuded top quality and service in a public access golf course.

Hoping to be back again sooner than later. I like this course even more this time than the last time I was here. Notably holes #1, 10, and 18 comes to mind right away for its looks and the way it plays, but then there are many holes that is so cool to play… and yes, fair like how the previous review mentioned.

Played 6/12 with an early morning tee time. I just reviewed this course a couple weeks ago, but the conditions are even better, despite the heat wave last week.

Greens are fast but have a light layer of sand added recently. Fairways are lush, but were wet with little run out. The rough has to be some of the gnarliest stuff I’ve seen. Chopping it out was the best option as the club would just stop in it.

Only hiccup: booked a 6:35 tee time online with email confirmation, arrived and wasn’t on the sheet at 6:35. I looked and found us at 6:25, so no big deal. Sent to the 1st tee (a bit of a drive) at 6:10 and found us grouped with a Twosome who’s friends were a Threesome in front of us (with a single added). Offered to join the single and let them play as a 5 after the starter left, which they reluctantly took. We caught the group ahead at the 5th hole, with the Five-some right behind us. Marshal asked us what was the deal, since there was a 20 minute gap in times and he didn’t have any issues with us rearranging the groups. Finished in 3:45.

Fun course with a variety of holes, and great views.

Golf Playing Conditions 7.63 GREAT
Golf Playing Conditions 7.63 GREAT

First time I’ve played here in the dead of winter, my past rounds have been in spring and summer. Conditions did not disappoint. Fairways and rough completely re-seeded, with lush fairways and some gnarly thick rough. If you hit in the rough you were searching for it, the ball will sink down. Greens were smooth and relatively fast, I’ve always found the greens here in great shape. It looks like they’ve done some work on the bunkers, I only noticed the liner poking through in one of the bunkers on 3. Sand was like a light desert sand, with some decent depth but still with the pebbles. The tees are dormant Bermuda sprayed green to match the course. Nothing that changes the play.

Additional Thoughts

Extras: Food and Beverages prices are some of the best in Vegas, everything is a few bucks under the typical golf course price. The range is included and full grass. Only issue is getting to it, as you drive between the private course’s #1 and the range. I’m always skittish as you see all the range balls along the path. Practice green by the clubhouse is nice, but it runs faster than the course. The carts, well, at least they have four wheels and carry the clubs. I’m always amazed by the quality of the carts for a higher end course, and have joked they were “hand me downs” from the big brother private course, without the GPS and speakers. Today, apparently they were borrowed from some other courses as their fleet is breaking down. Definitely not a deal breaker, just a surprise.

I love Arroyo. It’s a fun course with a chance to score or get your butt kicked.

Joined Rob, John and my Father on 6/28 for a fun round out at Bali Hai. Having played here a few times before I knew what I was getting into when we got to the course. The staff is super friendly from the moment you arrive. Check-in was simple and our bags were on carts by the time we left the pro shop. Every thing about this course has a laid back vibe, from the Tiki decor and the country and island music playing by the snack shake to the crush shell mounds separating the holes.

Review

As for course conditions I thought it was better than expected for end of June. The tee’s were goods and had great coverage with the exception of two or three that needed to be moved. Fairways lush and mostly green providing great roll and fluffy enough lies to hit your approach shots. Rough was good and wasn’t overly penal. Greens were medium/fast and held most well well hit shots. The one thing to note is the greens here are tough and the pin locations were tough all day. It is always best to shoot for middle of the green here as there are many false edges.

Final Word

Overall this course is a blast to play even with the planes constantly flying over it is still worth it IMO. I recommend you go out and play.

Golf Playing Conditions 8.02 GREAT

Course was in excellent shape, especially considering how warm it’s been the last few weeks. Tee boxes were level, minus the few that had the markers on the front of the box. Fairways were incredible, lush, with beautiful mow lines. They are growing the rough up, at least compared to when I played in February. Bunkers were decent, with light sand that was easy to escape. Greens lived up to their billing as the best in the Valley. Smooth, absolutely no ball marks to repair, but running at a slower than usual speed.

Customer service was great. I had a hot dog and home made chips prior to the round.

Overall, the course was playing a bit slower than normal, with minimum roll on the fairways and slower greens. They have some excellent summer deals that are hard to pass on, especially in the afternoon if you can handle the heat.

Day two of after bowling golf started out at Paiute Snow Mountain. We arrived to a very strong Southerly wind that was like playing in the Inland Empire in November.

These courses are so beautiful even with the terrible wind conditions. Tee boxes were flat, groomed and easy to find a nice spot to hit from. Fairways were tight and green everywhere, some minor lazy divot damage.  Rough was a bit penal with 1 to 3 inches in most spots without bare spots to be found in between the desert-scape brown sandy stuff with the prickly trees all over the place. Lots of water comes into play on a few holes, especially the signature par 3 which none of us hit but I escaped with a lucky park due to a nice lag from the fringe.

Greens are recovered from the punching in early April so the ball rolled great from all parts of the greens.

As we ended one of my buddies said, Hey we gotta stop to buy some balls before we go to TPC, as he left a dozen behind at Snow Mountain.

We played an early morning round on the snow course. The forecast was for mid 50’s with winds nearing 20 MPH. It was brisk with a cold wind chill. The winds were still high from the day before but were supposed to calm down as the day went on. Wind at this resort is not uncommon.

We teed off right at 8am and found the course to be in premium high season condition. Looking out over the property from the beautiful clubhouse all you could see was pristine green fairways and greens. Immaculate is the term that comes to mind, looking as if not a blade of grass or grain of sand was out of place.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. From the bag drop attendants to the pro-shop to the starter, all were friendly and professional.

The tee boxes were lush and reminded me of the boxes you see on television on the weekends. The course out in front of us was so beautiful that you had that giddy feeling of playing a top flight track. Very level, no divot damage.

The fairways were lush and absolutely no bare spots anywhere.

The rough was about 1 and a half inches tall, and not much of a penalty. They were perfect for keeping your ball from rolling into the desert. Very playable.

The bunkers were excellent with plenty of soft sand.

The greens were very fast and firm. Although they would hold your approach shots, they were showing the effects of the high winds. The greens are big but for the most part fairly level with subtle breaks.

The beverage cart was out and around often.

Final Thoughts

Another great day on a great course. This was my morning round on the very farthest north Las Vegas course, and I had an afternoon meetup with JohnnyGK at reflection bay on the very southeast end of the Las Vegas valley. So I was nervous about pace of play and being able to make it to my afternoon round. I was pleased that we were able to finish in 3 hours and 40 minutes. Plenty of time for me to make my 45 minute drive and still grab some lunch.

This course is top notch Las Vegas desert golf. There are 3 courses here at this resort and the snow course is my favorite of the 3. But from an eyeball test, they all looked like they were in pristine condition. As far as public courses go, this is as good as it gets in Las Vegas. In my opinion the best local courses.
