This year awards Cascata Best Playing Conditions 2019 for the Southern Nevada.

Not to be confused with “Worth the Green Fee,” “Best Playing Conditions” is awarded to golf courses open to the public listed on that stand out above the rest with our site users at providing consistently the best greens, fairways, rough, tee boxes and bunkers around.

The job of the superintendent is the life blood of the golf course and most important contributing factor to enjoying a golf experience.  A golf course is a living, breathing organism whose health is constantly in flux.  It takes enormous dedication, resources and expertise by a superintendent and their staff to provide excellent turf conditions.

The rating system used on is in part created by superintendents.’s trademark and creed, “Know Before You Go”®, centers on communicating these current playing conditions.

How Awards Winners Are Determined

Golf Course reviews and ratings submitted by our 78,000+ community are tabulated over 12 months. Winners are determined for each area.

We divide awards into 11 sections —  Inland Empire, Los Angeles County, Orange County, Palm Springs Area, San Diego County, Santa Barbara County, Ventura County, Southern California, Central California, Northern California and Southern Nevada.

Playing Conditions 9.18 IMMACULATE
Playing Conditions 9.18 IMMACULATE

Played 12-9-19 with Nick, Gary, and Pedro teeing off just after noon and finishing in a little over four hours.

Tee boxes were level and lush and in great condition. Fairways were very green and lush with great lies and decent roll out. Rough was very lush and thick, 3-4 inches and a club grabber. Bunkers had good quality sand in them and were well groomed. Greens were in great shape rolling true at medium/fast pace and semi-soft.
Very fun semi-challenging course with a great risk/reward finishing hole heading back into the clubhouse. Definitely one of the better conditioned courses in the valley right now.

Golf Playing Conditions 8.55 GREAT
Golf Playing Conditions 8.55 GREAT

Early morning 4.5 hour round on a well conditioned course. Staff is top notch as well as the facilities and carts.

The tee boxes were all very level with great coverage. The fairways were in excellent shape with fantastic coverage. The rough was a few inches in length and was frustrating to hit shots from (I hit many from it). The bunkers were the best I’ve had to play from that I can ever remember. The greens were a little dry and the holes were dried out pretty badly and not fair to the golfers. There was very few ball marks on them but somebody in front of our group was dragging their feet on every green.

The course is in great shape and I definitely recommend a round or two. Great day at Desert Willow. Awards Best Playing Conditions 2019 Awards Best Playing Conditions 2019
