Played 36 holes here 5/19 and it was my first time at this track. Tee time was 9:03 and we played the first 18 in a little over 3 hours, so we played another 18 in a similar time.

I really enjoyed this course. There are elevation changes, doglegs, and water hazards that keep things challenging. Of specific note, most greens have this 3 or 4 leaf clover type shape. Sometimes this can result in the hole being some 50 yard difference between being in a front corner or a back corner, and each “leaflet” of the clover kind of acts like it’s own tiny green, so landing spots are small.

Overall the course is in good condition.

Tee boxes look nice, are flat, and have minimal damage.

Fairways are green but some areas have dry crabby spots.

The rough wasn’t too penal and was around 2 inches and consistent throughout.

Sand conditions were soft and good in the few green side bunkers I was in.

The greens were firm and rolled medium to medium fast and true. Some of the more undulated spots made for dicey downhill putts.

Customer service was good. Social distance measures were in place, but the practice range and practice putting green were open as well as the on course bathrooms, which was nice.

Recommended, especially with the Underpar deal currently offered.

Rode the Blues (6687/72.2/127) in 4.5H in clear, breezy conditions in the low 80’s. Matched up with 3 nice Canadians who were good guys to play with. Their comments and disdain for the foursome in front of us that we waited on almost every hole cracked me up and kept things interesting.

Desert Falls contains holes set in rolling hills that you rarely encounter in the Palm Springs basin. Really like the Ron Fream links style design that is very atypical for the general area. Decent amount of water, high native grass and OB to keep you focused, but this is not an overly tight driving course.

Tees mostly lush and well maintained.

Fairways were nice to play from, mostly lush.

Primary rough was mowed down but still thick and it’s difficult to get good club on the ball. Native rough needs to be avoided at all costs because even if you find your ball you probably cannot play it.

Sand traps around the greens had good quality sand that was well maintained. Fairway traps okay, more compacted.

Greens were firm but held shots okay with some run-out and putted medium fast speed with few ball marks.

Their over-seeding appears to be about 50/50 rye and Poa over the whole course. It grows quickly and has good coverage throughout. The customer service was excellent from all encountered. Better than average all grass practice facility with complementary range balls. No drink cart, but they had a limited menu at their snack shop at the turn. Basic carts do not have GPS. Recommended, very fun layout to play.

Played 12-9-19 with Nick, Gary, and Pedro teeing off just after noon and finishing in a little over four hours.

Tee boxes were level and lush and in great condition. Fairways were very green and lush with great lies and decent roll out. Rough was very lush and thick, 3-4 inches and a club grabber. Bunkers had good quality sand in them and were well groomed. Greens were in great shape rolling true at medium/fast pace and semi-soft.

Very fun semi-challenging course with a great risk/reward finishing hole heading back into the clubhouse. Definitely one of the better conditioned courses in the valley right now.

Golf Playing Conditions 8.55 GREAT
Golf Playing Conditions 8.55 GREAT

Early morning 4.5 hour round on a well conditioned course. Staff is top notch as well as the facilities and carts.

The tee boxes were all very level with great coverage. The fairways were in excellent shape with fantastic coverage. The rough was a few inches in length and was frustrating to hit shots from (I hit many from it). The bunkers were the best I’ve had to play from that I can ever remember. The greens were a little dry and the holes were dried out pretty badly and not fair to the golfers. There was very few ball marks on them but somebody in front of our group was dragging their feet on every green.

The course is in great shape and I definitely recommend a round or two. Great day at Desert Willow.

Once again, it was a bright sunny with a few patch of clouds and very little wind at the Classic making it a real fun warm day.

There’s not much I could add to the prior review I’ve done. The course is as good as any good course anyone could find. It is as majestic as its name and the current playing conditions are very good.

Greens rolled smooth and medium fast.
Teeing grounds were lush and level.
The rough were dormant and were about one to two inches in height making it very easy to get out of.
The bunkers were good and had plenty of sand.
Good customer service all around.
Beverage cart was present and came around a few times.
The restaurant had good food and services.

Highly recommended.

Golf Playing Conditions 8.22 GREAT

Rode the Blues this afternoon 12/20/2018 at 12:30pm with JohnnyGK, RGM2525 and 24hourgolf. POP was 3 hrs 45 minutes with the golf course to ourselves–never had to wait on one shot. Perfect weather mid 70’s with no wind. Super practice facilities, huge Clubhouse that reminded me more of a Hotel and very friendly staff and cart attendants.

This course shoots right up to the top of my list for being well maintained and for the layout. Top 3 for me. When everybody told me that everything is big here they were not lying. Huge greens, water hazards, bunkers, fairways, etc–you get the drift. Some nice challenging holes and some birdie holes for sure that our group had plenty of! Almost had 5 on the day myself.

The Review

Fairways were super lush, ball sitting up perfectly. Rated a 9/10.

Tees perfect, level and lush. Rated a 9/10.

Rough super lush and green. Great shape, healthy. Rated 9/10.

Greens were a minor step down from Terra Lago but still in good shape rolling medium speed with some grain to them. Rated 7.5 out of 10.

Was in one green-side bunker and 2 fairway bunkers that were raked and in good shape–maybe could have used some more sand. Rated 7.5/10.

Just love the back nine here.

Rode the Blues (6323/70.6/127) in 3H, 15M. The weather was partly cloudy, fairly calm and in the low 60’s.

Enjoy this Ted Robinson layout that is up/down rolling hills with many raised green complexes. Numerous tiered greens plus a generous amount of water & sand to avoid. Reasonably tough but scoreable if playing well.

Over seeded tees were excellent. Lush, level with good coverage and few divots.

Over seeded fairways were lush and well maintained.

Over seeded rough was mostly mowed down but still difficult to play out of because of the thickness.

Sand traps were nicely maintained but the depths were inconsistent.

Over seeded greens were medium fast speed and firm. Hardly any ball marks because of the firmness, they rolled smoothly.

The customer service was very good from all encountered. Cart gal out making the rounds, ample water stations every few holes on the course. Good GPS on the carts. Range balls are included in your fee, all grass range that is adequate. Recommended.

Rode the Blacks (6669/71.9/128) as a single in 3H mid day. Basically had the course to myself under partly cloudy skies and 108 degree temps.

Considering how many straight days the temp has been 100+ locally, this course is in phenomenal shape! Par 35-37=72 layout with five par 5’s and five par 3’s. The front is stacked with par 3’s, 4 of your first 8 holes are par 3’s. Generous landing areas and the difficulty factor would make it a good choice for players of all skill levels. Some forced carries and water comes into play on many holes, but moving up a tee(s) could negate that for shorter hitters.

The Bermuda tees were lush and well maintained.

The lush Bermuda fairways were some of the best fairways I have played from in awhile. Nice cushion, the ball sat up like it was on a tee.

The Bermuda rough is lush and just deep enough to make the ball sit down.

The sand traps were decently maintained with good quality sand.

The large Bermuda greens putted nice, medium speed and firm. More undulations on these greens than the sister Santa Rosa course.

The customer service was good but limited. No drink cart today. Not a course to walk, many holes are a long ways from the last tee. No GPS on the basic carts. Definitely recommended.

The Review

Golf Playing Conditions 8.59 GREAT
Golf Playing Conditions 8.59 GREAT

Picturesque emerald green layout with a generous amount of white sand, nativescape and water to keep players on their toes. From tee to green, the course was in excellent condition. The greens are transitioning back to Bermuda and were more spotty than the rest of the course.

The tees were excellent, level, lush with few divots.

The fairways are lush, firm and really nice to play from.

The rough is lush and mowed down. Good for POP, not penal and nice to chip from.

The greenside traps had good quality white sand and were well maintained. The waste bunkers are firm and much more hit/miss.

The Bermuda greens were just okay. Firm, fairly smooth and medium speed. They are about to be aerated and they look like they need it.

Additional Observations

Customer Service exceptional from when you drop your clubs off out front to when you pick them up out front. Cart gal out making the rounds. All grass driving range is included and above average. Good GPS on carts. Plenty of ice/water stations on the course. One of my favorite Palm Springs area public layouts, highly recommended.
