Golf Course Review Golf Club at Terra Lago NORTH Indio California
Reviewed by: blakej824, Seal Beach, CA
Big thanks to Johnny and Terra Lago for setting this up. Made the 2 hour or so trek from Seal Beach to play with Johnny, Gary and Matt for the first time. Having never played here, it made quite the first impression. The clubhouse is nice and all the customer service was anywhere ranging from good to excellent with no complaints.
Tees: 7/10. with some of the par 3’s needing divot work but it was still very easy to find a nice level surface.
Fairways: 8/10. Really good, medium green. Nice cushion under the ball. The were a little on the soft side for the desert. I would prefer that to hard-pan thin on a course like this to keep the ball in play.
Rough: 6.5/10. Probably the thing that could use the most work. A bit patchy and clearly dormant. That being said I bet in the spring and summer months this rates out closer to an 7/8.
Bunkers: 7/10. They had adequate depth from the two fairway bunkers I found allowing for good contact. The green-side bunker I found was a little thin but still playable.
Greens: 9/10. Medium to medium fast coming off the ridges and downhill. Big undulations on a lot of these greens makes for interesting putting dynamics or as Johnny called it “rainbow” breaks. Many of the holes still had the checkerboard marks on the green from mowing and rolled perfect. Very little divots anywhere to be seen.
Overall I was thoroughly impressed with the course. I would highly recommend it and can’t wait to come back. Reminded me at certain times of some of the Paiute courses and at others of Desert Willow. Great playing with those gentlemen as well so if you ever get a chance don’t hesitate to join.
Golf Course Review Goose Creek Golf Club Mira Loma California

It’s not like it’s a hidden gem as it’s so often reviewed on GK, but dang it’s hard to get over how good Goose Creek is. Was a little bit pricey at $92 for a Saturday morning round on a windy day but course conditioning is as good as it gets for a public course in the Inland Empire.
Make that anywhere.
Nice green fairways, well tended bunkers with soft sand and smooth greens all throughout. I always enjoy the ample fairways and subtle difficulty of this course, especially on and around the greens. Attentive Marshall ensured good pace of play (<4 hrs) and we saw the beverage cart several times during our round. Had nice cup of chili after the round.
The consistency at which Goose Creek delivers a good product every time we play there is something I wish would be replicated at other area courses. Hats off!
Golf Course Review Black Golf Golf Club Yorba Linda California

Played today 12/20. It’s been many months since we last played here due to the high green fees. However this is one of our favorite courses. Thanks to management for offering specials, which allows us to economically play this course several times a year.
The course in very nice condition from the greens to the bunkers. Greens were smooth and rolled medium to fast. Bunkers had nice fluffy sand, a little wet but easy to hit out off. Today the pins were placed in difficult sections of the greens and shot placement was a must or you rolled off the greens. Challenging but always fun. This course can get punishing if you tend to slice or pull your shots, bets to hit then straight.
Round started out slow as we followed a slow foursome, but it appears that the course marshal moved them along as we noticed their pace of play sped up.
Black Gold has one of the best staff around. great customer service and personable. Always enjoy playing this course when we can.
Conditions overall were excellent. Fairways were a little tight at times but always had a good lie. Rough was short, at times the only way to be sure you weren’t in the fairway was the difference in color. Go past the rough and it’s natural desert in most places – avoid if at all possible.
Tees were good, par 3’s showed some divot wear but the tees are being moved regularly so not a problem finding a good spot.
Greens were great – hard to hold on touch shots but full struck short irons stopped quickly. Rolled beautifully at medium/fast speed. They’re good-sized with lots of undulations/levels so bring your “A” game for chipping/pitching/lag putting.
Bunkers – given how much time I spend in them, I should have taken a lounge chair, shovel and bucket and planned on building sand castles. Coverage was good but I never got a feel for the heavy sand and they gave me fits all day. I’d grade them about a “B+” overall but my bunker game was an “D-” which may be affecting my ratings.
Course employees were all very pleasant, weather was fantastic for mid-December.
While this course is often overlooked amongst the bevy of quality desert courses, it should get a LOT more love based on the conditions and layout. Very nice mix of shorter/longer holes, enough elevation change to make you think and adjust, challenging greens & great conditions – what more can you ask for? Add in a price point that’s better than a lot in the area and this becomes a “hidden gem”. HIGHLY recommended!

I play this course at least two times when on the Big Island because it is different (2500 ft. above sea level) and I love the layout. It 10 degrees cooler up here and the views are great. I was first out and they were rolling the greens so they were perfect! They are working on the fairways and they need to. This is the worst part about this course. Played 12/10 and 14/2018 and when I come back next year I will play it again.
Golf Course Review Angel Park Golf Club MOUNTAIN Las Vegas Nevada

Back on the home course on Saturday, 12/15. $50 with the OB Card, teed at 8:20ish, and finished in just over 3 1/2 hours with John_T and his dad.
Course was in great winter condition. Tee boxes mostly level, some divot damage. Fairways were lush, no thin spots, the re-seed has taken very well, except along the water on #2. Rough was 1-2 inches and fairly lush. New bunker sand is going well, saw them replacing some on the back. Greens were pretty good to great. Some ball marks, but mostly smooth, almost fast.
It’s winter so the migrating birds have homestead on 2 and 9, so there’s a chance of a poop ball. Weirdly, they like the 9th fairway over the 18th on the shared lake.
Always a fun time and a good challenge. 17 and 18 are a great finishing combo.
