Golf Playing Conditions 7.36 GREAT

The rough and fairways are setup for the PGA. If you cant keep it straight then expect a long day. The rough is at least 4 inches thick and will grab your club from advancing forward. It humbles me how good PGA tour players are in this stuff.

Tee boxes were fair. Fairways were in good condition but much narrow than usual. Mix in the damp air and wind, your ball flight will barely fly to your normal length.

If you play before August 2020, bring your “A” game. If you don’t have one or unsure, wait until after the PGA tourney.

For the prices the residents pay, I think its a bit high but in comparison to non-residents, I’m sure glad I live in SF.

Golf Playing Conditions 7.17 GREAT

Haven’t played here in a long time but finally did yesterday. We had a 7:30 time and got off right on time. There are MANY memorable holes at OAK QUARRY and it is easy to get a big number on them if you lose focus. Conditions are excellent right now the the best being the greens. The rolled real smooth and were about 10-11 on the meter. Everything is in top condition with the exception of the bunkers. They were inconstant and could use some more sand. We finished in 4 hours and hated to see our round end.

I can see the point of the last reviewer, there was only one person working in the pro shop and he was checking everyone in, taking payments, scooping range balls, and serving coffee etc. I could easily see how things could get behind as the day goes on. My only problem with the course would be the yardage markers or lack of them. I could not find any yardages on the sprinkler heads and the GPS on the carts were removed. With all the elevation changes here it would be nice to know the correct distance. I did have a scope but often it could not pick up the flag-stick for some reason.

Highly recommend playing here and the senior rate was $65

Went To Qual Lodge yesterday and the day started out good. Dropped off my bag the people were helpful and very nice. The starter was very helpful. Started play early.

Course in very very good shape after learning that Saturday was a very busy day. Didn’t play very good but had a good day except for the “Marshall”.

Golf was good, course was very good, the employees good, except for the Marshall, a real good &ssh*le . Acted like we were criminals. Couldn’t say hello, or explain why he was dogging us. We would move 100 yards he would move a 100. Did this not once during the day but twice. There was 2 groups in front of us both foursomess, yet he could not go up to them, had to stay with us.

Aside from that, Course in fine shape given how busy they were.  Recommended.

I played here on Tuesday.

Check in required mask be worn, and #socialdistancing.

The course layout is fun and challenging. The tee boxes are firm, and flat with some “hacker” divots. The fairway is firm, so good rolls for added distance is a plus. The rough is cut low and nice to play out of. The bunkers are firm (no rakes) and playable, if you choose to play out of them. The greens are very good. They are rolling firm and med-fast, with a true read to the cup.

I will definitely play here again.

Played 6/18 afternoon match with Deepsea14, and met Greg and Troy, for a fun round in good weather. The ‘goose’ is in good all around shape and still a good value.

Counted 4 greens today that had edge repair(sanding) happening, that likely won’t affect play. Greg did Texas wedge roll over it on hole 11 without issue.

I saw a couple high sided fairway bunkers with sprigs of grass growing through the sand that won’t come into play, but catches the eye. #17 tee box is still giggle firm, you giggle trying put you tee into it, but improving and wont affect play.

A threesome comfortably caught us on 5, the Marshall with his clipboard was between 5 & 6 and reminded us that we were 1 minute off schedule. He’s a big guy with a clipboard, a nice guy and on duty…it just gave me flashbacks of my football coaches 😉 We picked up our pace. He’s doing his job to the benefit of all that play this course, kudos.

Hole 18(Eleanor), wasn’t kind to us today…but I still look forward to making a birdie or even a par someday.
Cheers,

Good news. This course has been open for a week or so.

I played today 6/10/20 at about 9am. The only COVID-19 related measures they seem to be taking at the moment are requiring a mask to go in the pro shop. After that, everything else around the course is normal.

Driving range is open and in great shape.

Practice putting green is open and has the normal cups with normal small flags. This is also true for the course. Regular flags and cups in play. It felt like I had to reach so low to get my ball without a pool noodle in there!

I played the green tees which are the tips. This course isn’t overly long, at 6,700 yards for a par 72, but the tips make a huge difference on maybe 3 or so holes, where one has to literally hike a trail back to the green tee box. Another note on layout is the fact this course has 12 par 4s, and then 3 par 5s and 3s.

On to what everyone cares about:
Conditions where great, and nearly immaculate. Tee to green, lush. Rough isn’t very penal at all but does help slow the ball from running into junk. I really enjoy this Clive Clark design.

Greens were in great shape and rolled medium and pure, with normal flags and cups as mentioned.

The sand traps were interesting. It appeared the course was trying to intentionally keep them damp, so the sand was quite heavy, though I didn’t have a problem playing from them. Rakes were out and along all traps, but I’m sure the hot June sun killed any virus outside, if there is still concern for it.

Overall it was a great day on a great course. It’s a steal at $39 midweek rack rate for summer that includes a first class warm up area and a cooler with ice and complimentary bottled water.

Played Seven Hills for first time Sat. 6/13 @ 10:20 w/Uncle Jim and Vic to help me keep my game fresh for my pending 6th match. Vic will be a new daddy with his new baby girl this Wednesday, happy to treat him to his last round for awhile!

7 Hills is a great course in great shape right now for a great weekend rate of $40 per hacker. Range has mats and putting greens(cups w/o flags) open, greens have upside down cups, flags and a 2″ sch40 plastic coupler (I like this better than foam in cup). Plenty of carts, the drink cart came around 3 times, and POP was 4.5 hours.

Tee boxes are fine, sand bottles are on the carts, and sand buckets are available on every other hole to refill bottles. Went thru almost 2 sand bottles looking after tee boxes and fairway divots.

Fairways and rough are on par. Not much water and not many fairway bunkers. Fairway and green-side bunkers are nice, real sand…refreshing and old school!

Greens are soft and ate everything we threw at them from all distances. Putting was fast/med, except #17 which was fast/fast. I dare you to find smaller greens than 7 Hills…my kind of place!

Catching up on this review from Wednesday 6/10. Good times out at Ridge Creek Dinuba with rgm2525, CenCalGolfer33 and Deepsea14. It’s a great location for a meet-in-the-middle for SoCal and NorCal golfers. It’s also a great course that has yet to ever disappoint me. Personally I think it’s vastly underrated as far as rating and slope, this golf course has some serous teeth. Fairways are generous for the most part but miss them and almost always pay a steep price in deep rough, hazard or a nasty bunker. Greens are large but no push over. And if the wind kicks up this already long golf course, 7482 from the tips, will have you for lunch.

Golf Playing Conditions 6.74 GOOD

We teed off at 11:30 and finished in just over 4 hours with no waiting. Greens in great shape, holding shots but a touch slower than times I’ve played them in past. Their COVID-19 precautions pins were the only negative as they hardly let the ball drop so you need to agree upon prior to the round with your group what a good or not good putt is just in case. Fairways played fantastic. Last year the fairways were more lush and green but were also soft. Aesthetically they looked better then but they play much better this time allowing release on golf shots you would expect from the links style course. Plus the lies were great all day. Love fairways like this. Rough was beastly if you found the second cut. Hit and miss, well mostly miss, at finding your ball. The first cut was about an inch above the fairways and easy to hit from. Greenside rough varied in length and let me give you a word of advice, take an unplayable drop if you are in it wherever you are on the golf course. I took an 8 on hole 4 because it took me 4 lob wedge hack shots to escape it. Tee boxes in good shape but a little dry. Bunkers, COVID-19 conditions with no rakes and I believe they allow you take a free drop from them. Sand is old, hard and compressed. My guess is this has a lot to do with COVID-19. Personally I think they should fill in some of the bunkers in that need extreme work. Would be a cool look on some of the holes.

Amenities at Ridge Creek Dinuba as well as service are excellent. It’s a must that you experience the massive decked out practice facilities when visiting and enjoy the food from Jack’s restaurant if you have time. They are doing take out for golfers making the turn or you can now dine in on the patio social distanced. Bummer I did not have time after the round to grab a bite there as I normally do.

Check out the photos I posted. We might be doing an outing there in November.

They punch the greens 6/22 & 6/23 so try to get up there before that but if you don’t once the greens heal the golf course will be in excellent shape in July. Highly Recommended.
