Golf Course Review The Club at Sunrise Las Vegas Nevada
Reviewed by: rob1563, Las Vegas
Played a GK Guru round on Thursday, 6/20 with John_T. Teed off at 12:10, finished at 3 on a warm and very windy day.
Course was in excellent shape, especially considering how warm it’s been the last few weeks. Tee boxes were level, minus the few that had the markers on the front of the box. Fairways were incredible, lush, with beautiful mow lines. They are growing the rough up, at least compared to when I played in February. Bunkers were decent, with light sand that was easy to escape. Greens lived up to their billing as the best in the Valley. Smooth, absolutely no ball marks to repair, but running at a slower than usual speed.
Customer service was great. I had a hot dog and home made chips prior to the round.
Overall, the course was playing a bit slower than normal, with minimum roll on the fairways and slower greens. They have some excellent summer deals that are hard to pass on, especially in the afternoon if you can handle the heat.
Golf Course Review The Boulders NORTH Carefree Arizona

Played 06/25. Played the back nine of the north and then front nine of the south.
This review is just for the north back nine. The course looked like winter conditions for a desert course. The fairways were a very dark green and the rough was a very light green.
Tee boxes were in great shape. Fairways were in good condition. Not dry and hard. Rough was very minimal. Sand traps were good but they are getting a little crusty. Greens were very good. Soft and putted semi slow

Part two of my review of the Boulders. This review is for the front nine of the south.
Very different fairway conditions. The grass in the fairway was a light green and the rough dark green. The fairways were not as nice as the north. They are starting to thin out. Still good but not as lush as the north. The greens are good. Soft and semi slow. I wasn’t in any bunkers but they looked ok. Tee boxes are good. I find that this nine is quite a bit more difficult than the north. Very challenging.

6/17 using their Palm card off at 750 Pace of Play (POP) 3:40 hours with really no waiting until hole 15. Early morning mist and damp conditions thru first 9. Front 9 fairways recently punched with remaining nickle sized holes with current local rule to place if in one of the holes. Plugs had been swept up so lies overall were good. Holes 10, 11 and 12 were just punched so there was residue to deal with and these fairways were well watered as well. The remaining fairways were yet to be processed.
The grass is tight and firm but with good cushion–quite healthy and the current work is to keep that standard–just a slight inconvenience.
Rough is cut to about 2 inches and is rather whispy. It slows the ball some but OK to play from. That is until you get near the greens and on the slopes, thick juicy and tenacious.
Bunkers mostly OK but some on the front were wet to the point of having standing water.
Tees level and had good cover.
Greens smooth healthy looking rolling medium fast and gaining speed as the day warmed. Really like the 6 zone approach and because the greens are large with lots of contour there are even more opportunities for interesting pin placements within each zone.
Final Thoughts
Very friendly staff easy check in and well managed golfer management. Really good to see Nikki at the counter today.

We made a stop in Tucson for a day and was able to play El Conquistador around 0818 for a $30 rate. The course was fairly busy and pace was slow even though we finished in about 4 hours.
I enjoy the course mostly because of the variety of holes. I don’t think it’s your typical resort style course as it makes you be fairly accurate with tee shots and approaches. It has varying lengths of par 4s and par 3s. Overall a fun course.
Fairways, greens and sand traps were all in good shape. Some bare spots on the fairways but nothing to affect play too drastically. Greens accepted shots but were on the slow side. The sand traps were a pleasure to play out of because they actually had sand in them.
My negatives on the course were the range and the tee boxes. As a Troon managed course expect better quality range balls than the ones provided. Balls were chewed up and in very poor condition. The rank itself had zero grass to use. Just full of sand and hard to utilize. The tee boxes were frequently uneven and hard to find a spot to get a decent stance.

I was in Temecula and asked the esteemed JohnnyGK for a course recommendation. He said get out and play Cross Creek on the coupon so that’s what I did. I played on Tuesday 6/18 with a 1040 tee time. A great course at a great price.
The conditions were truly unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. A fairly short course but providing plenty of challenge. Fairways were in mostly good shape with some bare spots but numerous wet spots throughout. The greens were very receptive and a pleasure to hit both full shots and pitches. Sand traps were all fair and had plenty of sand. The rough was penal but still allowed you to attempt to make a recovery.
The tee boxes were not in as good of shape. Many were set in uneven areas. The course had enough of a variety of holes to keep me interested. The views alone are worth the price of admission. A truly fun and visually exciting course.
I was surprised at the lack of play going on as we didn’t see many people out save for a few singles.
Cross Creek is definitely a course to play at this time.

Enjoyed the opportunity to play with Johnny, Dconnally and Andrew1. Great bunch of guys to play with, all good sticks and fine company. Most impressed by how well Johnny bombed the ball off the tee.
I can say without reservation that the course was I the best condition I have ever seen it. The fairways were simply excellent, some of the nicest I’ve played on recently. A couple of the tee boxes had the markers set on a slope, but otherwise they were in good shape. Just the overall attention and improvement to the course and facilities are most impressive. Staff was friendly and very accommodating.
Always enjoy playing Glen Ivy. I find the holes to be interesting without being penal. The “flow” of the course is very appealing and while not walkable under any circumstance, this is a course I could play all the time, despite my preference to walk. Fun morning spent on a very nice course, in good condition with great company
