Golf Playing Conditions 8.00 GREAT
Golf Playing Conditions 8.00 GREAT

Played the morning of 9/1. Pace of Play (PoP) was pretty poor at 4:45 (more about that below). The course is in really good shape overall. Very lush & green as opposed to the bone-dry surrounding hills & makes for a great contrast. I played it last weekend at the same time in the morning & the fairways were soggy & squishy, like it was winter. This time around, they were much firmer & provided good roll-out. Hopefully they keep it more on the firm side through fall.

The Greens – 6.5/10. Medium/Fast & soft. Some of the greens are pretty chewed up & most had more ball marks than usual. Definitely due for an aeration. Certainly not the usual quality.

The Fairways – 8.5/10. Very lush with no thin or brown spots. Great roll-out & perfect lies. Me Likey!

Sand Traps – 7.5/10. Nice, firm sand in the bunkers. Well maintained.

Tee Boxes – 7/10. A couple of the par three tees were chewed up, but overall good.

Super nice Starter, who did a great job of explaining the local rules & also told us they are striving to bring the Pace of Play down to 4:16. I’m glad they are acknowledging the slow-play issue, as I’ve experienced nearly 5 hour rounds 2 weeks in a row, while teeing off before 8am! Hopefully they can get a handle on this issue.

Overall, this course is one of the best deals in Northern California in terms of Cost/Conditions. It’s a fantastic layout, in above average shape, at a very affordable green fee. If they can give the greens a little TLC & speed up the PoP, Rancho Solano would get a solid 9, in my book.

Golf Playing Conditions 5.40 GOOD
Golf Playing Conditions 5.40 GOOD

With no rain in the forecast, back out to one of my favorite courses to walk.

Always enjoy this course because of the beautiful views of the hills, and the general ambiance of this rolling golf course. Did not expect great conditions, but was actually surprised they were better than expected.

Greens rolled well and fairly quick.

Fairways were a mixed bag, some areas lush, some thin.

Same with the rough.

Really not a great deal to add to the last review, except to say that for the price, this is just a wonderful old style golf course that deserves to be played and enjoyed.

Golf Playing Conditions 6.80 GOOD
Golf Playing Conditions 6.80 GOOD

Jumped on a 7:25 tee time yesterday when I saw it and I’ve been itching to get back up here. Check in was smooth and got a little bucket to warm up. Great practice area. Giant driving range, a separate chipping green and 2 putting greens.

Teed off right on time and finished a tick over 4 hours. Marshal said the group in front of us was slow which either they made up ground because they were waiting for the group in front of them. I think it was just a full sheet today.

First off these greens were deceptively fast. They certainly did not look like they rolled as fast as they did. It took a few holes to get the speed of the greens down. I think they were rolling just as fast as when they have some of their qualifiers (or poor putting on my part).

Fairways were very good. Nice coverage. If you want to nit pick there are are areas that inconsistent bare/infilled divot but I don’t think anyone in our group had a bad lie all day.

Generally the rough is down but there were some juicy areas. Generally it didn’t impact any club decision for me.

I was in 2 fairway bunkers and they were both pretty thin and firm but I liked that from a fairway bunker. I don’t recall anyone of us in a green side one.

Started off a little chilly but turned out to be a beautiful day. Odd day too because the wind was weird today. 16 and 18 were a cross wind and 17 played downwind. I can’t ever not remember playing into the wind on these holes. Must have been the wind because I birdied 18, still looking for my first par….

On a side note the 15N was shut down thru parts of Corona so I had to take a scenic route which added some time to the commute. Check the construction in the area to see if there are any closures. I swear they have been working on this part of the 15 for 10 years now. From the looks of it I bet it takes another 10 years to complete. Ive said numerous times the goose is always a great test and i lived any closer it be my go to course. Just a solid track, solid conditions, and solid staff.

Golf Course Conditions 8.38 GREAT
Golf Course Conditions 8.38 GREAT

Only problem playing Eagle Falls is having to go back to the normal junked up public course for the next round…Course is in great shape, fairways are about as good as hitting off a mat. Greens are challenging in that there are actually undulations in many of them and the grass is so good it is a shame to walk on them with golf shoes. Yes real sand bunkers around the greens, good idea to hit a few practice bunker shots on the great practice area before your round.

We paid $85 on a Monday morning and it is worth every penny….for us golfers from the inland empire we have nothing like this even our best Oak Valley or Oak Quarry are dismal seconds to this track.

Golf Playing Conditions 8.18 GREAT
Golf Playing Conditions 8.18 GREAT

Played on Friday, 10/18 with John_T. We made a very last minute decision to play and luckily found a 7ish tee time for $39 (with a $10 food credit) on their site late Thursday night. It was still very dark when we pulled into the parking lot. Checked in and we were told we could follow the 1st group if we were ready after they go at 1st sign of light. We teed off about 20 minutes early and finished in just over 2 1/2 hours.

Some new things at the The Club: 1. They flipped the 9s so you start next to the clubhouse and finish on the par 3 on the other side of the clubhouse. This is to avoid frost delays this winter as the old front 9 is more shaded and gets the morning light later. I think the last 3 times I’ve played here I started on the old 10th/new 1st so no difference to me. Routing wise: It allows you to ease into the round with the most difficult holes stacked in the middle, the new 8-12 are the most difficult holes, at least for me. 2. Carts now have GPS with center green yardage. They will be adding the feature to order food from it to pick up at the turn.

Course has exited the maintenance period VERY LUSH! Tee boxes a bit long. Fairways were carpet like. I know they advertise the greens as the best in the Valley but the bunkers are near the top too. A little heavy but very loose and nice to hit from. The rough was just gnarly. I’m thinking they keep it Bermuda and it was just thick and nasty, except the side hills have been cut down. The Greens. They lived up to the expectations. Surprisingly though, a few ball marks on the first few holes, the first I’ve seen here. Glass like smooth, and the speed picked up as the sun warmed up.

Afterwards, took advantage of the food credit and enjoyed a great breakfast. All around service was great. They also added a drink cart to the rotation.

As always, The Club is a fun course to play. It can be easy, but if you go right, you’re in for an adventure and scrambling for a score.

Golf Course Conditions 7.56 GREAT
Golf Course Conditions 7.56 GREAT

Little late on my review, apologies! Played 9/12 with Johnny GK, BGarcelon & Alex326. Really great group & it was an absolute pleasure to tee it up with these guys.

As previously stated, the course is solid: Great conditions, the layout is fun & interesting with a mix of elevation changes, doglegs & water. The greens are the defining feature of the course, just huge, medium-fast & undulating. You can easily leave yourself 100-ft+ putts on multiple greens & leaving your ball above the hole is a problem.

The staff were very friendly & the beverage cart came around at good intervals. Didn’t get food, but Alex had a breakfast burrito that looked delicious & was about the size of the greens out there. Pretty sure it took care of his breakfast, lunch & dinner.

Great course, great time! Will definitely be back soon.
